New Year's resolutions slipping a bit? Here are a few things that might help...

Still trying to detox now that January has been and gone? If you are like most of us, you probably started the New Year full of good resolutions - trying to eat healthily, go down the gym regularly, lay off the ciggies and booze. The trouble is by the time you get to February, you have often run out of steam and find yourself sneaking back to all those old bad habits again.

Well don't despair, help is at hand! With these nifty little gadgets, you can get yourself back on track in no time. Some kind souls out there have come up with some amazing little inventions to make life easier for the rest of us and they'd make fabulous gifts too!

No more calorie counting...

Diet Kitchen ScalesIf you are trying to eat healthily and keep away from all those naughty foods that pile on the calories, then this may be just the thing to help you. Try the Diet Kitchen Scales which show the calorie and cholesterol content for up to 200 different foods. No more calorie counting for you! And this can help to keep an eye on your cholesterol levels too, something we've all started to pay attention to these days. This nifty invention also comes with a food temperature probe to ensure your food is always properly cooked - so no more worries about food safety!

Shock yourself into giving up...

Schockolate Box For anyone out there who's trying to give up something like chocolates or cigarettes, then you could consider literally locking away temptation for up to 24 hours with the Shockolate Box. This clever little gadget allows you to lock away your chocolates or cigarettes inside and keep them safe until you decide when you want it. You just set a timer to decide how long to lock your stash of goodies away and the Shockolate Box will keep it safe, emitting an electric shock if it is opened too soon! This will definitely strengthen your willpower!

Go cold turkey...

Big Cold TurkeyIf it calls for drastic measures and you really just need to give that habit up for good, but need a little assistance. Don't panic! Help is at hand with the Big Cold Turkey! No matter what your habit is; smoking, too much chocolate, too much shopping, or even biting your nails, the Big Cold Turkey can help you show those addictions the door. You can use it to take control of giving up that bad habit and it'll even help to make giving up fun! The Big Cold Turkey is based on the same principle as running a Marathon. So you break down the giving up process into stages and do it over 5, 10, 21 and 42 days. You get A Getting Started booklet, 4 stainless steel trophies, 2 button badges and a 42-day 'One day at a time' diary. Everything you need to motivate you and reward yourself every step of the way as you successfully give up. So now you've got no excuse!

Detox with a little help

She hasn't become the queen of detox for nothing! Vorderman has teamed up with Ko Chohan, creator of the detox diet, to provide guidance to everyone who wants to lose weight, gain energy and generally feel better about themselves. The book explains what detoxing is, why we should do it and how to go about it. It also contains some easy to follow tasty recipes to help you and suggests ways of integrating the principles of detox into your life once you've completed the 28-day plan. This is an inspiring book that might just be the thing you need to get started on the new you.

Walking is the new jogging...

Silver Heart PedometerEveryone's heard about the benefits of walking. Healthy exercise without too much exertion and you get the benefit of being able to walk in the park or the country! It's recommended we walk 10,000 steps a day in order to get fit and lose weight. OK that sounds a lot! But don't forget most of us walk around 4,000 steps a day anyway. You could take the strain out of walking and let a pedometer calculate your steps for you. Pedometers are a great way of monitoring the amount of walking you do each day and let's face it who wouldn't lose count if you tried to do it yourself! There are lots of pedometers available and it just depends on which one works for you. If you want something that looks good, you could try the Silver Heart Pedometer. With its six-dozen faceted, pave-set crystals, it looks so good you won't mind wearing it!

Pedometer with Body Fat AnalyserOr if you're looking for something to really monitor how you're doing on your exercise programme, there's now a Pedometer with Body Fat Analyser which will calculate your steps for you ! You can even measure your body fat over a period of time to see just how well you are doing! Whichever pedometer you choose, walking is the ideal way to exercise and there's nothing more relaxing than a lovely walk in the countryside - so double benefits all round!

If you have any inspiring ideas of your own to help kick start those flagging New Year's resolutions, don't be afraid to share them with us!
